365 day photo project

I love photography and want to get out and take more pictures so I'm starting this project to display 1 photo a day that I take somewhere at some point during my day.

Day 45

I got a free tomato plant this year. Re-potted it in the largest pot I had and gave it the best light spot I have. Will see if it survives living in an apartment.

Day 44

My brother's dog was checking out the surrounding campsites and I was again drawn to the darkness of the rain drenched tree trucks contrasted with the vivid greens of the leaves and grass.

Day 43 (sunday)

The temperature difference in the flames created an optical illusion where I couldn't tell if the log was there or not.

Day 42 (Saturday)

I tried to take a picture of the stars and a wispy plane track through the night sky but didn't have a tripod so it wasn't as successful as I had hoped.

Day 41

It rained. AGAIN. So as I was looking out the window at work today I was noticing the green grass that looked so perfectly manicured in the park and then I thought, why do they have all those winding curving circular paths and then end at the top of the hill with a square? So I took a picture of it.

Note to those checking back every day- I will be camping the next few days and will post all pictures on Monday night.

Day 40

When I saw this I was struck by how the bike was parked to line up perfectly with the shadow or the sign.

Day 39

Tools of the trade at Art Of Strength MN. Kettlebells, sandbags, tires, & vintage.

Day 38

More lilacs. One of the best signs of summer I've seen yet.

Day 37 Monday

oops! I took some great shots of a lilac bush in bloom yesterday and then forgot to post it.

Day 36

One of the many storm clouds passing us today. Don't read into the greenish tint of the clouds because I was taking the picture through window glass tinted lemon yellow and using the tungsten setting for white balance in an attempt to remove some of the yellow.

Day 35

A rare Saturday night off of work  and a great bonfire. I've always loved photos of the fire- I like the contrast of the bright and dark together. It was hard to pick just one of the photos I took.

Day 34

Ok, Disclaimer for those faint of heart- Its Fake!  The show I'm working on right now uses stage blood for 2 effects and the one I rig requires use of a small syringe (with no needle) trying to force the stage blood into a small bulb; but they don't fit together so you just have to hold them tight and hope the blood goes in. So tonight my fingers slipped and the blood went all over my hand so I decided to take a picture of it.

Day 32

From the end of my street I can see this sign and the surrounding trees across the road and this week I'm really enjoying the bright greens in the foliage as the sun hits it.

Day 30

I went out this evening to take pictures of the sun and everything green. This photo doesn't look like much but I liked the depth of shades of green in the tree leaves with the sun shining on it. So summery!

Day 29

Today I went  outside to the park by the Guthrie to eat my dinner and as I was finishing a couple of ducks wandered up. I ended up taking a lot of pictures of them so it was hard to pick just one to post.

Day 28 (sat May 14th)

Tonight I decided to try to catch the clouds from the 8th fl window. From up here the last few days they have looked like a blanket hovering over the city. I tried using a wide screen (panoramic) setting but the dreary grayness of the day made it hard to get enough definition in the clouds themselves.

Day 27

Still cat sitting so today I got several shots of cat #2- Lucy. She is a little skittish around strangers but she even came and snuggled with me on the couch today.

Day 26 (thursday may 12th)

Cat sitting this week so today's pic was Snoop, one of my charges. :) He doesn't like to eat alone. :)

Day 25

Tonight I waited till dark to catch the view from the 8th fl (actually a stairwell window between 8 and 9th fl) at work. If you are thinking the color looks strange- all the glass on the 8th and 9th floor in all the windows is tinted yellow.

Day 24

Only had a short break for dinner tonight so I stepped outside to take some photos and caught the sun going behind this cloud.

Day 23

My neighborhood is starting to turn green! This morning I was struck by the contrast of the dark wet tree trunks and the bright new green leaves and green grass.

Day 22 Sunday may 8

The rain today did not inspire me to get outside for photos so I took some shots at work as we closed our show tonight. Arms and the man in a box...

Day 21

2 show day at work today so I was playing around with taking pictures in the wig room between shows. Gotta love a wall of mirrors.

Day 20

Went for a walk this afternoon. So nice to have some warm sunny weather. I took many pics in the park today and had a hard time choosing which one to post, but finally settled on this one from the baseball diamond. Central Park in Hopkins.

Day 19

Clouds have always intrigued me. Catching this cloud behind the city skyline was not easy.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Day 18

Today I went for a short bike ride and stopped at a small memorial park called Minnetonka  Mills Crossroads at Minnetonka blvd and Plymouth rd. I took several nice shots of the creek and then saw a bed of daffodils and this was my favorite photo.

Day 17

Today was very nice sunny day, so I went for a walk around the lake by Shady Oak Beach and got this great shot of the lake. Can't wait till all the trees are green again.

Day 16 (monday May 2)

A little late on posting this picture. The day got away from me some how.  I was out for a walk and the bell tower at St. Joesph Catholic Church started it's hourly chiming so I snapped a few shots of the tower. This one intrigued me with the building in silhouette against the cloudy sky.

Day 15

Night time skyline of downtown Minneapolis on my way home from work.
