365 day photo project

I love photography and want to get out and take more pictures so I'm starting this project to display 1 photo a day that I take somewhere at some point during my day.

Day 132

Last day of the spider webs. They have been avid amusement to us through the window as they rebuild their webs every night, but I will be photographing other things starting tomorrow.

Day 131

Spiders again. We have a whole clan up in the corner of the window. They rebuild their web daily so it keeps changing. I know their have been lots of spider shots lately, but I'm moving so the only other thing I see all day is boxes. Tonight I got at least 4 spiders in  mid- aerobatic flight, creating a new web.

Day 130

Ladies lined up in front of the window after this afternoon's performance.

Day 129

I forgot my camera when I left for work tonight so today's photo is another one of the pine trees from yesterday.

Day 128

More depth of field shots today. Practicing on a pine tree.  I liked this shot because the needles closest to the camera look like they are coming off the screen at you.

Day 127

More spider webs. The photo a few days ago that had 2 webs in it has grown. Now the one on the right has become a condo of webs with 3 or 4 connected together.

Day 125

I stopped along the river road tonight to take pictures of this building with the lighted windows. I really liked the perspective effect and contrast of the lights and darkness.

Day 124 (Thursday)

You get 2 photos today. I was trying for a night shot of the Guthrie from the river road which is tricky between the lights on the marquee and the dark building. On a close up of the marquee I got the HMS sign in perfect focus, but without the larger shot for context it wouldn't make sense.

Day 123

Another spider picture. Sorry for those who don't like them, but it's getting to that time of year when they are every where by the river. Last night's spider had friends tonight. There were 2 webs and at one point between the webs I saw 5 spiders jumping and dropping to build webs to catch the moths that were attracted to the lights.

Day 122

At work, the window that had the moths frolicking around the lights a week ago, now has a ginormous spider in a web. Tonight's rain provided some moisture and I got a good picture of the web and you can see the spider in the middle.

Day 121 (Monday)

Noticed a small hole and crack in the "glass" (probably actually plastic) of the street light in front of my building.

Day 120

More depth of field experimenting. While the fake flowers are not the most exciting subject, I'm more interested in learning to effects I can get using the manual focus.

Day 119

Today I was playing with the manual focus on my camera and trying some depth of field shots. I caught a spider web with some rain drops in it amongst the Yew pines along the river road.

Day 118

Two bicycle taxis outside the theater tonight. I've seen several that pull the cart behind the bicycle but this was the first time I've seen ones that had the passengers in the front.

Day 117

Beautiful weather today. Went to Shady Oak beach for a while this afternoon and got a shot of the blue sky, fluffy clouds, and lake all in the same picture.

Day 116

Today I took basic still life photos of some fake flowers in vases and played with adding filters and stuff in Photoshop. I still like the sepia tone the best.

Day 115

Tonight I took my tripod out to the baseball diamond in Central Park (Hopkins) and tried to capture the bright 3/4 moon with the clouds passing by it. The moon was so bright I didn't need as slow of a shutter speed as I thought I would, but I played with various settings to see what they would do. This was my favorite shot of the night.

Day 114

A baby squirrel was playing in the bush outside my window this morning. I liked this shot best because he was standing up looking at me even though the screen on the window kept me from getting a clear picture.

Day 112

Walked down the river road between shows today and took some photos of the new 35W memorial. The wall pictured here is a vertical waterfall and has names etched in the blocks. Hopefully some night I can get a few pictures after dark when it's lit up.

Day 111

Tried to catch pics of some awesome cloud formations tonight. I really liked this one, in spite of the power lines going through it.

Day 110

Spider webs. Along the river they are everywhere. I went in search of some to take pictures tonight but this was the one I liked the best.

Day 109

Tonight was an experiment. I tried to capture the moths and bugs flying around the lights outside te window at work but the first few were too dark to catch them. Then I thought about using the lower shutter speed and seeing if I could get almost a time lapse look of the them moving. It almost worked but the light overpowered the reflection of the bugs. So the squiggly lines are not scratches, but the flight pattern of the bugs.

Day 108

Tonight I got a shot of the banana-grams game. Several of the actors and actresses will play this during intermission and when they have down time in the show. It's basically a speed version of scrabble. This was the first time they left the words out so I could get a picture.

Day107

Went to the beach today but a storm happened instead of swimming. Great clouds though and it was fun watching it rain.
